Your Safety Is Our Priority

At SocialBe, we're dedicated to creating a secure and respectful environment where meaningful, platonic connections can flourish.

Online Safety

Meeting new people can be exciting, but trust should be built slowly. These guidelines are adapted from proven industry safety practices and tailored for SocialBe's platonic-first community.

1

Never Send Money or Share Financial Information

Even if someone claims they are in an emergency, never wire money, send gift cards, or share banking credentials. If anyone asks, end the conversation and report it to SocialBe immediately.

2

Protect Your Personal Information

Keep details like your home address, daily routines, or documents such as passports private until you've built trust. We only ask for verification documents inside the app and never through email or third-party links.

3

Get to Know Them on the Platform

Because SocialBe reviews chats for safety signals, keeping your conversations inside the app helps us protect you. Avoid moving to other messaging apps until you feel confident.

4

Report Suspicious or Offensive Behavior

Block and report anyone who violates our terms, including requests for money, harassment, fake profiles, or links to commercial websites. Our moderation team works 24/7 to review reports confidentially.

5

Protect Your Account

Use strong, unique passwords and never log in on public devices. SocialBe will never email asking for your password. If you receive a suspicious email, forward it to security@socialbe.com.

Meeting in Person

When you're ready to spend time offline, stay in the driver's seat. Plan ahead, listen to your instincts, and prioritize your comfort every step of the way.

1

Don't Be in a Rush

Take your time chatting or hopping on a quick video call before you agree to meet in person. Use the opportunity to gauge tone, boundaries, and intentions.

2

Meet in Public and Stay in Public

Choose busy public spaces for first meetups and never your home or theirs. If the other person insists on somewhere isolated, reschedule or decline.

3

Tell a Friend About Your Plans

Let a friend or family member know your plans, including who you're meeting, where you're going, and when you'll be back. Reach out if anything shifts and check in when you get home.

4

Be in Control of Your Transportation

We strongly advise you to never get into someone else's private vehicle. Use your own transport, a trusted ride-share service, or have a friend drop you off and pick you up.

5

Know Your Limits

Watch your intake of alcohol or other substances so you can stay aware of your surroundings. If someone tries to push you past your comfort level, end the meetup.

6

Don't Leave Personal Items Unattended

Keep your phone, wallet, and bag with you at all times. If you feel uneasy, excuse yourself and seek help from nearby staff or call a friend.

7

LGBTQ+ Travel Awareness

Laws and cultural norms vary widely. Before traveling, research protections for LGBTQ+ people and adjust your profile visibility through SocialBe's privacy controls if needed.

Sexual Health & Consent

Even on a platonic platform, consent education matters. Should you and your Bee choose to explore a romantic connection later, make sure the transition is respectful and informed.

Protect Yourself

Use protection consistently to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Condoms combined with regular testing are the most reliable approach.

Know Your Status

Regular STI testing helps you stay informed and confident. If you are unsure where to start, speak with your healthcare provider or visit a local clinic.

Talk About It

Discuss physical boundaries and intentions before intimacy. Consent includes comfort with tone, touch, and timing.

Consent Is Ongoing

Every new activity requires a clear, enthusiastic yes. Alcohol or drugs can make consent impossible, so pause and reconnect when everyone is fully aware.

Resources for Help, Support, or Advice

If something feels off or you need help processing an experience, these hotlines and organizations offer confidential support. For immediate danger, call local emergency services.

Strictly Platonic

SocialBe is a platform for friendship and companionship. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of sexual exploitation, harassment, or inappropriate behavior. Violators will be permanently banned.

Identity Verification

To build a foundation of trust and curb false identities, we require all Bees and customers to submit a certified Identity Document or Passport for verification before they can engage on the platform.

Community Trust

Our community is built on mutual respect. We empower our users with tools to report concerns and encourage everyone to be mindful and respectful of others' boundaries.

Reporting & Support

If you experience any form of harassment, inappropriate behavior, or feel unsafe, please report it immediately:

  • • Use the in-app reporting feature on any user's profile
  • • Email us at support@socialbe.co.za with details
  • • Contact our safety team 24/7 for urgent concerns

All reports are treated confidentially and investigated thoroughly. We take your safety seriously.
